Chris has numerous commendations and certifications in law enforcement. He has attended multiple nationally recognized firearms academies, and has trained with the Marine Corps, FBI and LA SWAT. Chris has real-life experience handling threatening situations, always with safety first.

Justin enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 19. He was stationed at Fort Hood with the 1st Calvary Division. He deployed to Iraq during both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in 2004 & 2005. He was awarded the Combat Action Badge, Purple Heart and other commendations and awards while conducting Sector Security, Close Quarters Combat, Squad Designated Marksman missions and engagements on IED employers. Justin deployed again to Iraq in 2008 & 2009. During this deployment he conducted route security and convoy security operations. Justin not only has advanced training from the Army, but he has the combat experience that validates, refines and solidifies the training.
Justin received his BA in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas in 2013. He’s been instructing at Proactive Defense since late 2012.
Justin was also a personal trainer while going through college. Has an AFAA Certification. He was one of the most sought after personal trainers at his facility. From Army to Present he has a multitude of experience training all types of people.
He now trains at Proactive Defense and has experience training many different levels of shooters from new shooters to FBI, Military.
At an early age, Brian was shooting shotguns, rifles, and pistols for hunting and target practice. He honed his firearm skills by attending classes taught by Chris Rainey (Proactive Defense), Alex Szakacs (Canadian USPSA champion & competition instructor), Brian Harpole (Consolidated Training Group) and is one of the original members of Ryan Wilks’ North Texas Lead Farmers (NTXLF). Brian became a member of Proactive Defense in 2010, started volunteering at PAD in 2011, and became a staff instructor in 2015. He is the lead instructor for Drills Night and PAD classes as well as private lessons. Brian instructed many of the current PAD instructors. He is a member of Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA) and is a National Rifle Association (NRA) Endowed Life Member. Brian is also a NRA Certified Instructor in Pistol, Shotgun, Rifle, Range Safety, and Personal Protection Inside and Outside the Home.
Brian holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the best school in the country, Texas A&M University. He worked in the telecom industry for over 20 years in Paging, Cellular, and Land Mobile Radio system for first responders and military applications. He was instrumental in building a nationwide system for Afghanistan and holds a U.S.patent for Dynamic Channel Allocation in a LMR system. During his time in industry, Brian developed technical training programs for customers and new hires from diverse backgrounds. This skill applied to firearms instruction helps him explain proper shooting techniques in a variety of ways from beginner to advanced shooters with an emphasis on safety and proper gun handling. Brian’s philosophy for defensive shooters is to balance accuracy and speed while ALWAYS maintaining safety.
Paul has been a teacher and coach since 1994, with extensive training in teaching methodologies for students labeled as gifted and talented.
He has attended numerous shooting schools run by US Military combat veterans, including former members of the Navy SEALs, and the Army’s SOFD-D, and has combined those classes with his teaching experience to help further the knowledge of Proactive Defense club members and clients.
Many times, even when he is not formally instructing a class, you will find Paul walking about the range helping and coaching our clients. He has a passion for firearms and a passion for instruction, and we are proud to have him as an instructor here at Proactive Defense.
Colin grew up in the shooting world. At a young age he began shooting with his father. His father has been a firearms instructor for the United States Postal Inspection Service, and is currently instructing the Federal Flight Deck Officer program.
In high school Colin competed and won medals on the high school NJROTC rifle team. Colin later started competing in local I.D.P.A. matches around Dallas in 2009 and continually placed in the top rankings. In 2010 he started competing in the Glock Shooting Sport Foundation annual matches in Dallas and San Antonio. In the summer of 2014 he competed in the GSSF match in three categories, winning 3 Glock pistols and a promotion to master shooter. Colin received his BA in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas in 2011. He began instructing at Proactive Defense in 2012 and is currently pursuing a career in law enforcement.
Brad served in the armed forces as a U.S. Navy Diver. He was a former natural national power-lifting champion. And was one of the original members of the evangelistic strength ministry The Power Team. Brad became a member of Proactive Defense in 2015. His desire to excel in shooting caused him to go from the “Patriot” membership to the “Elite” within a few months. As he quickly excelled in his training he was asked to be a part of the Proactive Defense team where he enjoys teaching and instructing people in their firearm journey.
Brad is a licensed and ordained minister and has travelled the world extensively preaching the Gospel. He holds a Doctor of Biblical Studies degree from Masters International University of Divinity. Brad and his wife Jana pastor a local congregation and have their own evangelistic ministry where they equip and teach people.
Brad is a father of three amazing kids, 9, 8 and 5, and is very passionate about teaching the next generation of safe, responsible 2nd amendment supports. Brad is a certified NRA instructor in pistol, rifle and shotgun. He received his instructor training through the NRA and the Boy Scouts of America.Brad has been a member with Proactive Defense since 2013 and has taken every course we offer. He has also pursued training with several other instructors in both firearms and open hand defense.
